Homes for Kids is one of two foster care programs we operate. Normally, Homes for Kids foster children do not require higher than average care and their needs are similar to many children not in foster care. For information regarding foster children with greater than average needs, please see our web page for Intensive Treatment Foster Care.
For over 20 years, Homes for Kids (HFK) has been matching qualified, caring foster parents with foster infants, toddlers, and children to age 18. HFK works with placement agencies, social workers, therapists, foster parents and biological parents (when indicated) to ensure proper management of each child’s needs. With HFK you will receive the best services and the highest level of support that will enhance the extraordinary experience of foster parenting.
Prospective foster parents are interviewed in order to assess their capacity for working effectively with children. We look for married or single adults who can provide a stable and structured environment, and who can be consistent and compassionate with others. The foster parents who are selected receive a stipend to help offset the financial care of the foster child. The stipend varies according to the child’s age. We ask for a year’s commitment to the foster child as it is emotionally harmful to often move the child around.
Homes for Kids provides programs and services to promote the healthy development of all of our foster children. We strive to enhance their emotional health and well being in the foster home. We work to smooth transitions when placed into new foster homes, and then at a later date into the world at large when the child comes of age. The HFK program has seen high success rates in foster placements, guardianships, and adoptions with its unique population of children.
